Victor grapes bred by amateur winegrower V.N. Krainov. Over the past less than twenty years, it is rightfully recognized as one of the best due to its excellent taste, high yield and ease of cultivation.

Selection features

The Victor grapes were bred as a result of many years of selection work. For crossing Krainov used varieties "Radiant Kishmish" and "Talisman". This variety has such characteristics as high frost resistance, abundant harvest, resistance to diseases and pests. Over the past period, gardeners have noted a high survival rate of seedlings, rapid growth and unpretentious care.

This variety was bred relatively recently - in 2000-2002. For such a short period, it was not possible to compile a complete description of Victor grapes, all its advantages and disadvantages. But over the years, he deservedly received the title of "premium grapes".

Features of the hybrid

A feature of this hybrid is early maturity. Until the fruit ripens, 100-110 days pass from the beginning of the vegetative process. Grape growers begin to harvest in early August.

Victor has a massive, well-developed vine, on which a large number of healthy buds are located. Flowers combine quality belonging to both sexes, female and male. For this reason, it is easily self-pollinated.

Victor begins to bloom grapes in early June. The active growth of grape bunches is enhanced after the systematic cutting of the leaves.

This grape variety has excellent winter hardiness. It tolerates winter frosts well without shelter. Due to this important quality, it is widely zoned. Saplings quickly adapt to changing climatic conditions. The grapes take root well and are distinguished by high fertility both in the southern regions with a hot climate, and in the harsh conditions of the central regions with a sharp change in temperature.

Description of grape fruits

Victor grapes are distinguished by large, large clusters that are conical in shape. The average weight of one bunch is from 500 g to 1 kg. Subject to all the rules of agricultural technology and proper care, the weight of a bunch can reach 1,800-2,000 grams. Up to 6-7 kg of harvest can be harvested from one grape bush.

It differs from other varieties in the absence of "pea" berries. The fruits are very large, the average grape weight is 15-18 gr. The berries are oval in shape, with a slightly pointed end. Outwardly, the fruits are similar to the "lady's finger" variety.

The size of the berries varies in the following ranges: from 2x3.4 cm to 2.6x4.2 cm.Experienced gardeners often note higher rates - with excellent care, the length of the grape can reach 6 cm, and the weight - up to 20 grams.

There are few grapes seeds - no more than 1-2 pcs.

The color of the grapes depends on how long they are in the sun during the day, from deep light pink to deep reddish purple. The ripening phase also affects the color of the berries. As you can see in the photo, Victor grapes ripen evenly.

The taste of berries is distinguished by nobility and harmony. Fleshy-rich pulp and thin rind, which is practically unnoticeable when eaten, increase the value of this variety.

In addition to a lot of advantages, this variety has several disadvantages.

• The high sugar content attracts wasps. As soon as the bunches begin to ripen actively, these insects literally attack the berries. It is very difficult to deal with their invasion. Professionals advise setting wasp traps. Water mixed with a large amount of sugar is poured into a glass. Poison is added to the syrup. This is the only way to fight during the ripening period.
  
• Since Victor grapes bloom very early - in early June - this is its plus, but at the same time and minus. In late spring - early summer, there are late spring frosts. Bunches that are just gaining color can freeze. In this case, you don't have to wait for the harvest.

Propagation of grapes

Thanks to its rapid rooting and high resistance, the Victor grape multiplies in four ways:

• Saplings;
• By grafting cuttings;
• Layers;
• With bones.

With any method, the grapes take root well, maintaining varietal qualities, except for grafting. In this case, you can get a hybrid that combines the qualities of the mother bush and Victor grapes. Where is it preferable to plant Krainov grapes

Victor grows well and gives bountiful harvests in sunny places. It is highly undesirable to plant grapes near fences or next to the house; proximity to other trees and shrubs should also be avoided. The vine grows rapidly.

This grape does not like drafts. In particularly hot and dry weather, abundant watering is required.

Victor grows on any soil, as it is undemanding to the composition of the soil. But the more fertile the land, the higher the yield. For gardeners interested in obtaining a large amount of harvest, it will be useful to know that the greatest fertility is noted when growing grapes on black soil.
