Sprayed webcap (Cortinarius delibutus) is a conditionally edible lamellar specimen of the Spiderweb genus. Because of the mucous surface of the cap, it received another name - smeared cobweb.
Description of the smeared webcap
Belongs to the class Agaricomycetes. Elias Magnus Fries - Swedish botanist and mycologist classified this mushroom in 1938.
Has a yellowish color, covered with mucus.
Description of the hat
The size of the cap is up to 9 cm in diameter. The surface is flat-convex, slimy. Has various shades of yellow. The plates are small, closely adhered. As it grows, it changes color from bluish-purple to beige.
Spores are reddish, spherical, warty.
The flesh is quite firm. When ripe, the color changes from purple to yellow. It has no characteristic mushroom smell and taste.
Leg description
The leg is cylindrical, rather long, reaching 10 cm. Closer to the base, thickened, yellow or whitish in color.
Where and how it grows
This specimen grows in coniferous and mixed forests. It can be found in the northwestern and northern regions of Russia, in Primorye. In Europe, it grows in Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden.
Is the mushroom edible or not
This species is considered little-known, conditionally edible. Some sources claim that it is inedible.
Since it has a low nutritional value, it is not of particular interest for mushroom pickers.
Doubles and their differences
The representative has several doubles. Among them:
- Slimy webcap... It has a more brown tint. Its surface is more covered with mucus. This species is conditionally edible.
- Cobweb soiling... Differs in a cap: its edges are more lowered to the bottom. Brown color. It belongs to the edible variety.
- Slime webcap... This representative is characterized by a more impressive size, it is more covered with mucus. Refers to conditionally edible.
