Important! Some growers treat the seeds with thiram, in which case they do not need to be soaked before sowing.

Eggplant growing conditions

In the southern regions of Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, the Caucasus and Central Asia, eggplant can be grown outdoors. In the regions of central Russia, the bushes are planted in film or glass greenhouses.

Eggplant is more heat demanding than crops such as tomato and pepper. The most suitable temperature for seed germination is between 20-25 degrees. In such conditions, seedlings can be expected in a little more than a week. The extremely low temperature at which germination is possible is about 14 degrees.

Eggplant is not frost resistant. When the temperature drops to 13 degrees and below, the plant turns yellow and dies.

For the growth of eggplant, the following conditions are needed:

  1. Warmly... If the temperature drops to 15 degrees, the eggplant stops growing.
  2. Moisture... In case of insufficient moisture, the development of plants is disturbed, flowers and ovaries fly around, fruits grow irregularly shaped. Also, the fruit may have a bitter taste, which under normal conditions is not observed in the Anet F1 hybrid.
  3. Shine... Eggplant does not tolerate darkening, which should be taken into account when choosing a planting site.
  4. Fertile soil... For growing eggplants, soil types such as black soil, loam are preferred. The soil should be light, rich in organic matter.

If all the conditions are met, the Anet F1 hybrid bears excellent fruit, the eggplants grow in the correct shape, and the pulp does not have a bitter taste at all.

Preparing eggplant seedlings

As with tomatoes and peppers, eggplant should first be sown on seedlings. If the seeds are pretreated with thiram, they should not be soaked in order not to remove the protective layer. In the absence of pre-treatment, the seeds are first kept in a solution of red potassium permanganate for 20 minutes. Then they are left in hot water for another 25 minutes.

At the end of the treatment, the wet seeds are left on the tissue until they hatch. They are kept in a warm room in a damp state until the roots come out. Then they are sown in the ground.

The soil for eggplant is prepared as follows:

  • 5 parts of fertile turf;
  • 3 parts of humus;
  • 1 part sand.

To improve the quality of the mixture, it is recommended to add mineral fertilizer (based on 10 liters of soil): nitrogen 10 g, potassium 10 g, phosphorus 20 g.

Before planting seeds, make a hole in the soil at a depth of 2 cm. Moisten the soil, lower the seed and cover it with earth. Before the emergence of seedlings, the planting is covered with a film.The air temperature should be 25-28 degrees.

Important! To avoid stretching the seedlings, after the emergence of seedlings, the pots are moved closer to the window: the lighting is increased, and the temperature is lowered.

5 days after emergence, the seedlings are kept warm again. When the roots grow and take up the entire pot, all its contents must be carefully dumped and transferred to a larger container. After the appearance of the third full-fledged leaf, you can add a special seedling feed.

Transfer to soil: basic recommendations

A total of 60 days pass before the seedlings are planted in the ground. Eggplant, ready for transplanting into the ground, has:

  • up to 9 developed leaves;
  • individual buds;
  • height within 17-20 cm;
  • well-developed root system.

Young plants are hardened 14 days before the planned transplant. If the seedlings were grown at home, they are taken out to the balcony. If it was kept in a greenhouse, then it is moved to the open air (temperature 10-15 degrees and above).

Seeds for seedlings are sown in the second half of February - the first half of March. Plants are planted in a greenhouse or in the ground under a film in the second half of May.

Important! When planting seedlings, the soil temperature should reach at least 14 degrees.

In order for the seedlings to take root well and continue to develop, it is necessary to maintain humidity and temperature. It is necessary to regularly loosen the soil and feed the plants. The maximum air humidity is 60-70%, and the air temperature is about 25-28 degrees.

When choosing which variety of eggplants to plant, you should pay attention to the Anet F1 hybrid. As the experience of gardeners confirms, it has a high yield and excellent taste. Eggplant has a marketable appearance, is well stored and is suitable for preparing a variety of dishes. To obtain a bountiful harvest, it is important to follow the recommendations for growing the crop.

Gardeners reviews

Further, we have collected a few reviews of gardeners about the Anet F1 hybrid.

Anna, Krasnodar city
I am very pleased with Anet F1's eggplants. The fruits are aesthetic and tasty, the skin is shiny and even the eggplants that have been hanging on the bush for a long time remain thin. I was pleasantly surprised that all the seeds had sprung up, and there were only 10 of them in a bag. I would like to note that, in comparison with other varieties, the hybrid is quite capricious, the soil dries up a little - and yellow leaves appear. But in general, I am satisfied with the taste and yield.
Margarita, Volgograd
I want to share my experience in growing eggplant. Took a hybrid Anet F1 - and did not regret it. Impressed by the productivity of the bushes. My fruits were small, but there were a lot of them. I planted a few bushes in a greenhouse and a few in the open field. Produced well in both beds.
Helena, Novorossiysk
