Eggplant Galich is a mid-season variety with a high yield. It grows well both in the greenhouse and in the open field. The period from first germination to maturity lasts about 120 days.
Galich - characteristic of the variety
By the time of ripening, the fruits gain up to 200 g of weight. The shape of the eggplant is cylindrical, the skin color is dark purple with a bright glossy sheen. Due to its dense white pulp without bitterness, this variety is especially appreciated in home cooking. Reviews of hostesses indicate that Galich is well suited for canning, cooking caviar and salads.
In greenhouse conditions, a short, compact bush is formed during the growth period. The main stem is strong and firm. Lateral shoots are thin, with wavy leaves.
Growing and care
Eggplant seeds for seedlings are planted in fertile, disinfected soil. The best time for this is early March. Galich can be planted in a new place (greenhouse or vegetable garden) in May or early June, as soon as 5-6 leaves appear on the shoots.
The sowing depth of eggplant seeds is no more than 2 cm, shoots appear in 5-7 days.
The optimum planting density for the Galich variety in a greenhouse or garden is 5-6 bushes per sq. m. Too dense planting of bushes leads to a decrease in yield.
To grow eggplants outdoors, you need to choose a place protected from the wind. The plant tolerates a lack of sunlight, therefore, slight shading of the area with plantings is permissible.
Important! The ideal planting depth for bushes is up to cotyledonous leaves. It is not recommended to plant deeper, as decay of the trunk may occur.
In the process of growth, eggplants need to periodically feed the soil, regularly get rid of weedskeep the earth moist at all times. The formation of beautiful bushes and the most common mistakes made by gardeners are described in this video:

Of all the varieties of eggplants, I prefer Galich. These dark purple beauties keep well and taste great. This year I ventured to make a bed for eggplant between fruit trees. Galich liked it there - almost no weeds grow under the trees, which means there was less weeding. By the time the eggplants were planted, the flowering had already ended, the bed was clean, without excess debris. The bushes grew well, however, the leaves were a little paler than last year, but this did not affect the yield. About 12-13 kg of large fleshy eggplants were removed from 15 bushes per season.

As an experienced gardener, Galich suits me in all respects. I have a film greenhouse and a vegetable garden, I tried to plant both there and there. The disadvantages of growing eggplants in the open field are the attack of insect pests - the Colorado potato beetle, aphids. Several bushes of Galich got sick with a "black leg". I never leave diseased plants - I remove them right away so that the disease does not spread to other bushes. On the street, weeds grow faster and denser, there is simply not enough time to weed them out constantly. I didn't have such problems with the greenhouse. I calcined the greenhouse soil for Galich seedlings in the oven, and added it a little when planting. The weeds in the greenhouse almost did not grow; to attract bees, I hung plastic containers with honey solution. Now I will plant the "blue" ones only in this way - at first, of course, there is more trouble, but the bushes are healthy and strong. And it is much easier to take care of them later.

My son last year from the city brought eggplant seeds Galich. I grew seedlings in a room, in a special box. I decided not to dive, as the variety is new to me.The germination test showed a good percentage - out of 50 Galich seeds, 39 germinated, and 30 emerged. Since this is a lot for me, I planted 20 bushes. In general, almost 18 kg of eggplant were removed from them. I was glad that the plant does not take up much space, the trunk is thick and stable. The eggplants taste very good - we fried them, rolled them into jars, left them for the winter - they were stored in the cellar almost until spring.
