It is difficult to imagine more popular varieties than Mother-in-law and Zyatek. Many gardeners think that the cucumbers Zyatek and Mother-in-law are one variety. In fact, these are two different hybrid varieties of cucumbers. They have a lot in common, but they also have differences. Let's consider everything in more detail.
Characteristics of varieties
These early-maturing hybrids have a lot in common. The most important thing is the lack of bitterness even in the most overripe cucumbers. It is this characteristic that allowed them to become so popular. Other common characteristics:
- equally suitable for both open ground and greenhouses;
- due to the predominantly female flowering, they do not need pollinating insects;
- cylindrical cucumbers with a diameter of no more than 4 cm;
- have a high yield, which occurs on average after 45 days;
- cucumbers are ideal fresh, pickled and pickled;
- plants are resistant to powdery mildew.
Now let's look at the differences. For convenience, they will be given in the form of a table.

Growing recommendations
Cucumber varieties Mother-in-law and Zyatek can be grown both through seedlings and by planting seeds directly on the garden bed. In this case, the rate of emergence of the first shoots directly depends on the temperature:
- at temperatures less than +13 degrees, the seeds will not germinate;
- at temperatures from +15 to +20, seedlings will appear no later than 10 days;
- if you provide a temperature regime of +25 degrees, then seedlings may appear already on the 5th day.
Sowing seeds of these varieties in a greenhouse or in open ground is carried out at the end of May in holes up to 2 cm deep.
When grown through seedlings, its preparation should begin in the month of April. At the end of May, ready-made seedlings can be planted either in a greenhouse or in a garden bed. The main indicator of the readiness of cucumber seedlings is the first few leaves on the plant.
In this case, seeds or young plants of cucumbers are recommended to be planted every 50 cm. Closer planting will not allow the bushes to develop at full strength, which will negatively affect the harvest.
Further plant care includes:
- Regular watering, which should be carried out until the fruit ripens. In this case, water should be moderate. Abundant watering will lead to decay of the root system of the bushes.
- Weeding and loosening. These are not required procedures, but recommended. Varieties Mother-in-law and Zyatek will not leave them unattended and will respond with a good harvest.Advice! Loosening of the soil should be carried out no more than once a week and very carefully so as not to harm the plant.
- Top dressing. It is especially important during the vegetative period of the plant. Top dressing is best done once a week, combined with evening watering. Good results are obtained by using solutions of potassium and phosphorus. But experienced gardeners prefer to use diluted manure.Important! Over-fertilization can kill the plant.
During the period of active growth, you can tie up young cucumber plants. This will not only give the bushes direction to grow, but will also allow more light to be received.
The harvest of cucumbers Mother-in-law and Zyatek begin to harvest in early July as the fruits ripen.
I planted cucumbers, my mother-in-law, and I have all the barren flowers, not a single ovary

Cucumbers "Zyatek" and "Mother-in-law" are very similar in their characteristics to each other. I have been using the seeds of these hybrids for 3 years already, plus “Courage” - and I always get a good result. These hybrids are equally good both under film cover and when grown without cover. Cucumbers are formed even and beautiful, small in size. The harvest ripens amicably, quickly enough, empty flowers are not observed. The main thing is to collect regularly 1 time in 3 days approximately. The varieties are resistant to powdery mildew and small temperature extremes. Zelentsy are crispy, aromatic - perfect for fresh consumption, as well as for pickling and pickling. I can definitely recommend the varieties "Zyatek", "Mother-in-law" and "Courage" for all amateur vegetable growers. If anyone has any questions, write, I will be happy to answer.

Mother-in-law and Zyatyok are excellent cucumbers, I advise everyone !!
I like Mother-in-law and Zyatok, several ovaries from one bosom, like a bunch, pimply, good in salads and salting. Delicious, sweet, crunchy!
Cucumbers "Zyatyok" and "Mother-in-law" are favorite in my family. I have been growing them for the sixth year now and I am very satisfied. They always give an excellent harvest. Plants are hardy, bear fruit until the autumn cold. Zelentsy are good in salads and have no equal for canning. And with the onset of cool weather at the end of summer, the fruits only become sweeter and more aromatic. I recommend everyone to plant these hybrids.
This hybrids remain, in my opinion, one of the most reliable parthenocarpics on the Ogurtsov market, You will always get a decent harvest, the main thing is to observe agricultural techniques, not to plant in the shade, not to pour and be sure to tie up, I personally like the Zyatek in the binding form in the salad crunches excellently and is very sweet, and we use the mother-in-law more for salting in jars, we roll up the pickles, they get excellent taste!
I have been growing the cucumber variety Zyatek for several years. He has excellent germination and good taste. High productivity from 1 plant. It is better to collect Zelentsy once every 3 days. It tastes just great cucumbers! Well suited for both salting and fresh consumption. I highly recommend this variety to all amateurs.I can only say good things about the mother-in-law variety. Also good indicators of productivity and consumer properties.
Cucumbers Mother-in-law and Zyatek are very tasty, aromatic, with thin skin and do not taste bitter. Very crispy and strong in salting. I also recommend that lovers of parthenocarpiks try to plant Shchedryk, Khrustyk and Murashka. Don't be afraid to experiment!
