Spider mite on eggplant is a dangerous pest that can completely destroy plants and crops. The most effective way to get rid of it is with chemicals. In addition to them, you can use traditional methods of protecting plants from insects.
How to identify a pest
A spider mite is an insect no more than 0.5 mm in size. It is almost impossible to determine it with the naked eye.
The following signs indicate the appearance of a pest:
- appearance on eggplant leaves light points;
- the leaf blade of the affected plants resembles a marble surface;
- gradually the tops of the eggplant dries up;
- a cobweb appears under the bush.

After treatment, the action of Actellik lasts for 2 weeks. Processing is carried out in the absence of rain and wind, at an ambient temperature of +12 to + 25 ° C.
The consumption of the drug is determined from the norm of 1 liter of solution for every 10 sq. m. When used outdoors, the specified rate is doubled.
Neoron
Neoron is a drug that acts against various types of ticks. The tool copes with the pest at all stages of its development, from the larva to the adult. The drug partially affects the mite clutch.
Eggplants have always been treated with chemicals on the leaf. Neoron can be used with non-alkaline drugs. Its action lasts for 10-40 days, depending on external conditions. The death of insects occurs within a few hours after contact with the treated plants.
Sunmight
The drug is available in the form of a white or light brown powder. Sunmight acts on various species of mites, including spider mites.
The active ingredient of the drug is pyridaben, which causes paralysis of insects. It is recommended to use the drug on a cloudy day, since its active ingredient is destroyed in direct sunlight.
The agent acts on ticks regardless of the stage of development and is not addictive to insects. The effect of using Sunmight is observed within 15 minutes after treatment.

Colloidal sulfur

Traditional methods

The most effective are the following folk remedies:
- Soap solution... To prepare it, you need 10 liters of warm water and 200 g of soap. It is recommended to grind the soap beforehand. The tool is insisted for 3 hours. Processing is carried out by spraying the eggplant every week.
- Decoction of tobacco leaves... Dried leaves in the amount of 50 g are poured with a liter of water and put on low heat. The resulting broth is diluted in equal proportions with water and used to spray plants.
- Onion infusion... 0.2 kg of onion husks are placed in a bucket of water. The tool is prepared for 5 days, after which it is used to combat spider mites.
- Garlic infusion... Chop two heads of garlic, then pour one liter of water. The infusion is prepared for several days. Before use, the product is diluted with water in equal proportions.
- Hot pepper solution... 0.1 kg of hot pepper, previously crushed, is added to a liter of water.
Prevention measures
Preventing the spread of spider mites will allow compliance with simple measures:
- timely elimination weeds;
- maintaining humidity in the greenhouse at 85%;
- a distance of more than 1 m should remain between greenhouses in order to avoid the spread of the pest over the site;
- leave a wide space between the rows with eggplants;
- periodically loosen and mulch the soil;
- regularly water the plants;
- inspect eggplants in order to identify the tick in time.
