Each summer resident strives to make the site well-groomed and tries to grow a rich harvest. So that the season does not disappoint, different varieties of vegetables are planted, both early and late. Cucumber of the Adam F1 variety is quite popular with gardeners.
Description of the variety
Cucumber bushes of the Adam F1 variety grow vigorous, form a medium weave and have a female flowering type. Already a month and a half after sowing, you can start harvesting. Ripe cucumbers Adam F1 acquire a rich dark green hue. Sometimes on vegetables, stripes of light colors appear, but they are poorly expressed.
The crispy and juicy fruit has a distinct cucumber smell. Cucumbers Adam F1 are distinguished by a pleasant, mildly sweet taste. Cucumbers grow in length on average up to 12 cm and weigh approximately 90-100 g each.
It is noteworthy that the Adam F1 variety is suitable for growing both in small areas, vegetable gardens, and in large farms. A cucumber is characterized by abundant fruiting when planted in different conditions: open ground, a greenhouse, a greenhouse.
The main advantages of the Adam F1 variety:
- early ripening and high yield;
- appetizing appearance and excellent taste;
- long-term preservation of fruits, the possibility of transportation over long distances;
- resistance to powdery mildew and other diseases.
The average yield of the Adam F1 variety is 9 kg per square meter of planting.
Growing seedlings
To obtain an earlier harvest, it is recommended to plant ready-made seedlings in a greenhouse or greenhouse. Hybrid seeds do not need pretreatment. To ensure high-quality seedlings, it is recommended to pre-germinate seeds of the Adam F1 variety:
- the grains are placed in a damp cloth and placed in a warm place;
- to increase the resistance of seeds to cold temperatures, they are hardened - placed in a refrigerator (on the lower shelf) for about three days.
Planting stages:
- Initially, separate containers are prepared. It is not advised to plant a cucumber of the Adam F1 variety in a common box, since this vegetable reacts painfully to frequent transplants. You can use both special peat pots and plastic cups (drainage holes are pre-made in the bottom).
- The containers are filled with a special nutritious soil mixture. The soil is moistened and seeds are placed in a shallow hole (up to 2 cm deep). The pits are covered with soil.
- All containers are covered with foil or glass to prevent the soil from drying out quickly.
- The cups are placed in a warm place (temperature approximately + 25 ° C). As soon as the first shoots appear, you can remove the covering material.
The containers with cucumber sprouts Adam F1 are placed in a warm place, sheltered from drafts. A lot of light is needed for the friendly growth of seedlings. Therefore, it is recommended to use additional lighting on cloudy days.
To do this, you can transfer the seedlings overnight to a cooler place (with a temperature of about + 19˚ C).
Approximately one and a half weeks before transplanting seedlings Adam F1, they begin to harden the sprouts. For this purpose, the containers are taken out into the street for a short period of time. Then, every day, the time the seedlings stay in the open air is increased. Before planting, be sure to moisten the soil in a plastic cup and the soil in the beds. You can plant seedlings in a greenhouse about a month after sowing the seeds.
If the climatic conditions of the region allow, then it is quite possible to sow the Adam F1 planting material directly into the open ground. Optimum conditions are air temperature + 18˚C, and soil temperature + 15-16˚C.
Cucumber care
To obtain high-quality fruits and a bountiful harvest of cucumbers Adam F1, it is recommended to adhere to a number of tips.
Beds are perfect for cucumbers after such vegetables: tomatoes, potatoes, onions, beets.
Watering rules
If cucumbers of the Adam F1 variety are grown in a greenhouse, you do not have to worry about the high humidity. However, there are several nuances for watering:
- moisturizing procedures are carried out regularly, but their frequency depends on the age of the bushes. Seedlings require moderate watering (4-5 liters of water per square meter). And during the flowering period, the rate is increased to 9-10 liters per square meter. The frequency is 3-4 days. Already during fruiting (at a flow rate of 9-10 liters per square meter), the bushes of the Adam F1 variety are watered daily;
- there is no consensus among experienced gardeners about the watering time. But the best solution is the middle of the day, since after watering you can ventilate the greenhouse (to exclude high humidity) and at the same time the soil will not dry out very much until evening;
- It is strongly not recommended to use a hose for watering Adam F1 cucumber. Since the strong directional pressure of water can erode the soil and expose the roots. It is advisable to use a spray can or install a drip irrigation system. If, nevertheless, the roots have opened, then it is necessary to carefully spud the bush. Some gardeners form special furrows around the cucumbers Adam F1, along which water flows to the roots;
- only warm water is used for irrigation. Since cold water can lead to decay of the root system of cucumbers of the Adam F1.
It is imperative to control the condition of the leaves of the bushes. Because in extreme heat, the soil can dry out faster and this will lead to wilting of the green mass. Therefore, if hot dry weather is established, then it is necessary to water the cucumbers more often.
Cucumbers Adam F1 really need moist soil. However, this culture also needs high-quality aeration. Therefore, soil compaction can lead to the death of the root system. It is recommended to regularly loosen the soil and mulch. When watering, it is also recommended to avoid getting water on the green mass of the bushes.
Fertilizing the soil
Top dressing is the key to high yields of cucumbers Adam F1. It is recommended to combine watering and fertilization. There are several stages in the application of fertilizers:
- before flowering, a mullein solution is used (1 glass of manure per bucket of water) and a teaspoon of superphosphate and potassium sulfate are added. After a week and a half, you can re-fertilize the soil, with a slightly different composition: take half a glass of mullein in a bucket of water, 1 tbsp. l nitrophoska;
- during the fruiting period, potash nitrate becomes an important mineral fertilizer. This mixture ensures the growth and development of all parts of the plant, improves the taste of cucumbers. For 15 liters of water, 25 g of mineral fertilizer are taken.
Excess nitrogen leads to a delay in flowering. This also manifests itself in the thickening of the stem and an increase in the green mass of the bushes (the leaves acquire a rich green tint). With an excess of phosphorus, yellowing of the leaves begins, necrotic spots appear, and the foliage crumbles. Excess potassium interferes with the absorption of nitrogen, which entails a slowdown in the growth of cucumbers of the Adam F1 variety.
General recommendations
In the greenhouse and with the vertical method of growing cucumbers Adam F1, it is important to tie the plants to the trellis in time. When forming bushes, conditions are created for an optimal lighting regime.Cucumbers do not shade each other, are well ventilated, practically do not get sick.
If the Adam F1 bushes are tied up in a timely manner, the care of the plants is greatly facilitated, it is easier and faster to harvest, weed the beds. And if you pinch the shoots in time, it is possible to significantly extend the fruiting period.
The main stem of the Adam F1 variety is tied to a support when 4-5 leaves appear on the bush. As soon as the plant grows to a height of 45-50 cm, the side shoots must be removed (while they are shorter than 5 cm). If you do this later, the plant may become sick. When the main shoot grows to the height of the trellis, it is pinched.
Compliance with the simple rules of caring for the Adam F1 cucumber will allow you to harvest delicious and beautiful fruits for most of the season.
