How to make red currant juice
The technology for making red currant fruit drinks includes a moment common to all recipes. Berries should be clean, sorted from twigs and leaves. They also need to be suppressed in order to separate the juice, or grind them to obtain a mushy mass.
In most recipes, the main emphasis is on conducting the most gentle temperature treatment of the currant drink in order to preserve useful chemical elements in it. Boil, as a rule, only oil cake is needed. This makes it possible to obtain a rich taste of the drink, provided that all vitamins and other substances are preserved. Add red currant juice to the already cooled broth.
Frozen red currant fruit drink recipe
You can prepare fruit drink from red currants (see the recipe with the photo), including from frozen berries. Take them out of the freezer and let stand for a while at room temperature.
Ingredients:
- frozen berries - 0.2 kg;
- water - 1.5 l;
- granulated sugar - if necessary.
In a deep bowl, chop the currants with a wooden crush until puree and pass through a fine sieve. Put juice with pulp and juice from berries in a separate bowl. Place the cake in a saucepan with water and cook for about 10 minutes. Add sugar after boiling. In the meantime, send the juice to the refrigerator.
Cool the hot fruit drink and mix with the juice from the refrigerator. Put on fire again and heat strongly to + 90-95 degrees, but do not boil. Strain before use.
Ingredients for another recipe:
- currant (red, s / m) - 300 g;
- currant (black, s / m) - 300 g;
- granulated sugar - 300 g;
- water - 4 l.
Place the currants in a blender, cover with sugar and add a little water. Beat everything and pour the resulting mushy mass into a saucepan. If the blender is small, you can do it one at a time: first, grind the red currants with half the sugar, then the black ones. Add water and put the fruit drink on fire. As soon as it boils, you can turn it off.
Fruit drink from fresh red currant berries
Take ripe currants, not spoiled.It is good to wash it from dust, let it dry. Sort out beforehand to clear of twigs and various impurities.
Ingredients:
- berries - 0.3 kg;
- water - 1 l;
- granulated sugar - 5 tbsp. l.
Transfer the berries to a comfortable deep bowl and crush lightly with a fork. Then rub the berry puree through a sieve. Transfer the cake that remains after this into a saucepan with water. Bring to a boil and cook at +100 degrees for 5 minutes. Then add sugar, stir well and turn off the gas. In total, the solution should boil for no more than 7 minutes.
After cooking, the fruit drink should stand a little under the lid in order to stretch it tighter, for at least half an hour. Then strain the drink and squeeze the cake well - it will no longer be useful and you can safely throw it away. Then you should combine the cooled broth with the previously squeezed red-currant juice. Stir the combined 2 drinks well and pour into a jug. Cool to room temperature or refrigerate, you can drink.
Red currant fruit drink without cooking
Cooking, even minimal, kills a lot of nutrients found in the red currant drink. Therefore, if you wish, you can do without it.
Ingredients:
- currants (red, fresh) - 50 g;
- raspberries (frozen) - 50 g;
- cranberries (frozen) - 50 g;
- blueberries (frozen) - 50 g;
- water - 1-1.5 l;
- ginger (fresh) - 10 g;
- sugar - 70 g;
- cinnamon - 1 stick;
- star anise - 1 asterisk;
- cardamom (beans) - 2 pcs.
Pour platter of berries and sugar into a teapot. You can also add citrus peels to add an interesting new flavor to the drink. Finely chopped apple pieces go well with berry fruit drink. Pour fresh boiling water over, stir and add all other ingredients (spices and ginger). Leave under a closed lid for 20 minutes.

- sugar (honey, sweetener) - to taste.
Beat the berries in a blender with sugar and cold boiled water. Leave to infuse, then place in the refrigerator. Shake before use, as the pulp tends to sink to the bottom.
Red currant honey juice
If desired, sugar in recipes for making currant juice can be replaced with honey. In this case, the drink will be even healthier and will acquire additional flavors.
Ingredients:
- berries - 300 g;
- water - 1 l;
- honey to taste.
Place the washed and peeled berries in a sieve placed on top of a deep plate. Use a wooden pestle to mash them well until all the juice has drained out. Next, boil the currant cake in water for 20-30 minutes. Wait for cooling, strain and combine with juice and honey. Stir well, put in a cold place.
Red currant ginger juice
Ingredients:
- currants - 0.4 kg;
- honey - 0.1 kg;
- water - 1.5 l;
- ginger - 10 g;
- cinnamon - ½ stick.
Mash the berries and squeeze the juice with cheesecloth. Pour the remains in the form of skins and bones with water and put on fire. Throw in the ginger, chopped in small pieces. When the liquid boils, add cinnamon and turn off immediately. Keep covered until cool. Then remove the sediment, add honey and juice, stir.
Fruit drink from oranges and red currants
Ingredients:
- currants - 0.4 kg;
- orange (juice) - 1 pc .;
- water - 2 l;
- sugar - 0.15 kg;
- cinnamon to taste.
Squeeze out the juice from the orange and red currant berries. Place the remaining skins and cake in a saucepan, add water and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then cool, strain and combine with sugar, stir everything. At the very end, pour in the juice.
Contraindications to red currant juice
Despite the beneficial properties of red currant fruit drink, it also has contraindications. There are a number of cases when this tasty and healthy drink can be harmful and cause such pathologies:
- gastritis;
- ulcer;
- hepatitis;
- poor blood clotting, such as hemophilia.
Some people who are prone to food allergies may have an intolerance to the product. This usually results in skin rashes (hives) and some other symptoms.
Terms and conditions of storage
Store fruit drink has a much longer shelf life than home, as it undergoes a sterilization process. But this negatively affects its beneficial properties. After opening the package, the shelf life of the product is drastically reduced. It should be consumed within 24 hours. Homemade fruit drink at room temperature can be stored for a maximum of 12 hours, in the refrigerator - 3 days.
