The amazing taste of quince jam is liked by everyone who has tried it at least once. Fragrant, beautiful, with fruit slices that taste like candied fruits. To make jam, you need ripe quince, from which a real delicacy is obtained.
When preparing for the winter, modern housewives willingly use an assistant - kitchen appliances. This saves a lot of time, dishes are cooked at the optimal temperature and you don't need to constantly monitor the time. Therefore, quince jam in a slow cooker is a recipe that we will pay attention to in our article.
For those who first decide to make a wonderful jam, you need to know some of the nuances. Raw quince is rarely admired by anyone. Although the fruit is a relative of the familiar pears and apples, its popularity is hindered by the hardness and specific taste of the fruit.
But confitures, jams and quince preserves are very tasty. The whole secret is in heat treatment, which makes the quince soft and juicy at the same time.
A simple recipe for jam in a slow cooker
There are a lot of cooking options, as always, because every housewife loves to experiment. There are simpler recipes for the first time. And there are more sophisticated ones for experienced chefs. Let's start simple.
We will make jam from two ingredients - quince and granulated sugar. We need 1 kilogram of fruit, and a little less sugar - 900 grams. Let's get down to the process:
- Wash the quince thoroughly, dry it and cut it in half. This must be done in order to carefully cut the core.
- We cut each half into slices,
put everything in a bowl
and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Quince is not a very juicy fruit, so cover the bowl with gauze and set it aside for 2-3 days so that the slices let the juice flow.
As soon as the fruit lets out enough juice (we don't wait more than three days!), Transfer the mixture to the multicooker bowl.
For jam, turn on the "Jam / Dessert" mode and set the timer for 25 minutes. If the multicooker model does not have such a mode, then it is perfectly replaced by the "Extinguishing" mode.
This is where our actions with the multicooker end. After the set time has elapsed, you can taste the aromatic and juicy jam. This option is suitable for quick consumption.
Winter jam recipe
In this case, we will have to cook the workpiece in stages, and not at a time. The ratio of the components remains the same as in the previous recipe. Some housewives recommend adding lemon during winter harvesting, but you can do without it. Quince itself will add sourness in the right amount.
We prepare the fruits as described above - wash them, take out the core, cut into slices 1.5 cm thick.
In a deep bowl, mix the pieces of fruit with sugar and leave for 2-3 days. If there is not enough juice, you can add a little water. If there is a lot of it, then you should not pour it out - add it to the tea. It will become more aromatic and sour, like with a slice of lemon.
We shift the contents into the multicooker bowl and select the mode. Be sure to take into account the technical characteristics of the multicooker. We make sure that the jam boils. If the "Stew" mode does not give such a result, put it on "Baking". Timer - half an hour. After the end of the process, we do not remove the jam from the multicooker, but let it cool completely. Then we repeat the cooking twice, but for 15 minutes. Each time we wait for the jam to cool completely. In the finished form, the quince changes its color, and the syrup becomes thick.
Now quince jam in a slow cooker can be laid out in sterile jars and rolled up for the winter. But you can eat right away too!
Useful tips for culinary experts
Place the quince slices with sugar in a non-metallic container. Otherwise, the taste of the jam will be worse.
When transferring the mass to the multicooker bowl, be sure to collect all the undissolved sugar with a silicone spatula.
You can cook jam not in 2-3 doses, but much longer. The more times you boil the quince jam in a slow cooker, the thicker the mass at the exit will be.
