If you want to grow a large harvest of ideal tomatoes, then it's time to pay attention to the Eupator variety. This "brainchild" of domestic breeders amazes with the volume of fruiting, taste and external characteristics of the fruit. Small tomatoes of even rounded shape are perfect not only for making salads, but also for winter preservation. Growing Evpator tomatoes is quite simple. We will offer all the necessary recommendations for this and a full description of the crop variety later in the article.
Description of the variety
The Evpator tomato was registered by domestic breeders in 2002. The producer and originator of the variety is the Gavrish company. Due to its excellent agrotechnical characteristics, "Evpator" has become the most widespread among farmers. It is preferably grown in a greenhouse, since it is in protected conditions that the variety is able to fully demonstrate its merits.
Characteristics of the bushes
Tomato "Eupator" is an indeterminate hybrid. Its bushes are able to grow and bear fruit for an unlimited period of time. It is preferable to grow them in greenhouses, because it is in protected conditions that a favorable microclimate can be maintained until late autumn and, thanks to this, the maximum volume of the crop can be collected.
Indeterminate shrubs need to be shaped regularly and carefully. Tomatoes of the "Evpator" variety, up to 2 m high, are stepson, leaving only 1-2 main, fruiting stems. As the plants grow, they should be tied up in a support.
The variety "Evpator" forms ovaries in large quantities. The first simple inflorescence appears above the 9th leaf. Above the stem, flowers adorn every 3rd leaf. On each inflorescence 6-8 tomatoes are formed at once, which ensures a good yield of the variety as a whole.
Characteristics of vegetables
The external description of the "Eupator" variety is excellent: the tomatoes are small, weighing about 130-170 g. Fruits of equal size have a smooth, glossy surface, red in color. Ripe vegetables have a firm flesh with 4-6 seed chambers. The amount of dry matter in tomatoes is 4-6%.
The taste of tomatoes is wonderful, harmoniously combines acidity and sweetness. When cut, "Evpator" tomatoes exude a pleasant, bright aroma. Ripe vegetables are suitable for preparing fresh and canned dishes, sauces, tomato juice.
Dense tomatoes keep their freshness well over a long period of time. Also, vegetables can be transported over long distances without any problems.
Yield
The ripening period of tomatoes of the "Evpator" variety is average in duration: from the day of seed germination to harvest, it takes about 100 days. The first ripe tomatoes can be tasted 75-80 days after the seed germinates.
The indeterminacy of tomatoes and a large number of ovaries on each inflorescence allow for excellent yields. So, from every 1 m2 soil, it is possible to collect up to 40 kg of ripe, tasty and aromatic tomatoes. Due to the high yield, the Evpator tomato variety is grown not only in private farmsteads, but also on an industrial scale.

Disease resistance
Like most hybrids, the Eupator tomato has genetic protection against many diseases. Only phomosis or dry spotting can cause significant harm to tomatoes. In the fight against phomosis, it is necessary to remove fruits with primary signs of the disease and treat the plants with special preparations, for example, you can use "Hom". The development of the disease can be prevented by reducing the amount of nitrogen fertilizers and reducing the watering of plants.
Dry spotting also poses some threat to Eupator tomatoes. Only special drugs such as "Tattu", "Antracol" are effective against this disease.
In addition to the diseases listed above, insects can also cause damage to plants:
- a gnawing scoop can be destroyed mechanically or by treating tomatoes with Strela;
- you can fight the whitefly with the help of Confidor.
Of course, the use of chemicals to fight diseases and viruses in the process of growing tomatoes is not preferable, because the decay period of these substances is long and can affect the environmental friendliness of the fruits themselves. The use of special chemicals is permissible only as a last resort when it comes to the complete destruction of the culture. Preventive measures to combat ailments are weeding, loosening and mulching the soil in the near-stem circle of the plant.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
Having studied the main characteristics and description of the Eupator tomato variety, we can safely talk about its existing advantages and disadvantages. So, the positive aspects of growing tomatoes are:
- record high productivity;
- excellent taste and amazing external characteristics of the fruit;
- friendly ripening of vegetables;
- equal size and shape of tomatoes;
- high resistance to major diseases.
It is the numerous essential advantages that made the Eupator variety popular among gardeners. The disadvantages of the variety are relative:
- an indeterminate variety requires careful formation of a bush and a garter;
- the ability to get a bountiful harvest only in greenhouse conditions;
- the genetics of the variety does not allow tomatoes to resist absolutely all diseases and pests.
Thus, in order to obtain good results in the cultivation of Eupator tomatoes, it is necessary to acquire a greenhouse and knowledge about the formation of indeterminate bushes. Some information about this can be found in the video:
Growing features
Evpator tomatoes are unique. They are able to successfully grow and bear fruit even in the northernmost regions of the country. Breeders attribute this variety to the 3rd light zone, which allows it to be grown in the Murmansk, Arkhangelsk regions, the Komi Republic and other "difficult" regions.
It is recommended to sow Evpator seeds for seedlings in mid-late March. At the stage of appearance of the second true leaf, plants should be dived into insulated pots. By the end of May, as a rule, stable warm weather is established, which means that you can plant tomato seedlings in the ground. The age of the plants by this time should reach 45 days, and the height should be at least 15 cm. Such grown, but not yet flowering seedlings adapt best to new conditions and quickly grow greenery.
When growing seedlings, special attention should be paid to feeding. Young tomatoes quickly deplete even the most nutritious soil and, due to a lack of trace elements, begin to hurt. So, throughout the cultivation, young plants should be fed 3-4 times. The last feeding of seedlings should be the introduction of a large amount of potash fertilizers, which activate the work of the root system and allow the tomatoes to take root faster and better in the new growing place.
After planting Eupator tomatoes on a permanent growing site, you should also pay close attention to the condition of the tomatoes and regularly feed them with organic and mineral substances. Only with proper care and regular feeding can you get a really good harvest of delicious Evpator tomatoes.
